Who Am I?

Hi, my name is:

Karlie Skibo

Born and Raised:

I have lived in Brandon, Manitoba for the entire 21 years of my life so far. I love the fact that Brandon has most of the amenities of a big city while still having a "small town" feel.

Education:

My education started in elementary school as a Linden Lanes Leopard. I became a Vincent Massey Viking in 2006 and graduated in 2010. I just completed my Bachelor of Science at Brandon University in May 2013 and am currently a student in the Faculty of Education here at BU with an expected graduation date of May 2015.

Family:

I currently live (rent free!!) with my parents and my (not so little!) brother. I have a very small family which includes:
3 aunts
3 uncles
6 cousins (mostly older)
and... a beautiful 5 year old second cousin who just had her first day of kindergarten yesterday!!

What Makes me Tick:

I am very friendly but I am also very shy when you first meet me... but trust me once I get to know you, you'll have a hard time getting me to shut up! I have been a volunteer coach for the Special Olympics softball team here in Brandon for over 6 years. I love all of the athletes on my team and this summer we are going to Vancouver for the 2014 National Summer Games! I love softball, volleyball, and bowling! Country music is my favorite! My favorite food is roast beef and gravy!!

In regards to education I am a Math major and a Geography minor with a little bit of psychology and sociology mixed in! I could talk forever about math and how calculators should NOT be allowed in schools... but we'll save that for another day! After officially teaching two geography units as a student teacher I am a huge fan of how many different activities involving technology can be used in a geography classroom.

This blog has been started as an assignment in my ICT class last year but who knows... maybe it will become a habit for me! We'll just have to wait and see! Let the blogging begin!!
